Stilt Man

Arron Cook, one of our joiners, is a stilt walker and fire eater in his spare time.
We have considered dispensing with our forklift for getting individual boards from the timber racks!

Training for site fitting

We have initiated an NVQ Level 2 training plan for our joiners. Although most of them have qualifications, these are no longer recognised by the Construction Industry Training Board and without an NVQ Level 2, the joiners cannot work on site should they need to. Five men already have their CSCS Skilled Worker cards and another five will have theirs this Spring.

The Staircase

Carlton Smith has been commissioned to manufacture two helical staircases. These will be freestanding with a steel sub-frame to provide support. They are being manufactured to a traditional design with a cut and bracket strings and turned spindles.
There will be a curved balustrade to both sides with volutes at the bottom of the first flight.
The handrail and treads will be Sapele and all other components will have a paint finish.
